Things to see & do

Eidsvold, with its wide streets, country architecture and well-maintained parks and gardens offers a pleasant stopover for visitors travelling the Country Way. Eidsvold is at the centre of a large cattle-grazing area, and is typified by grassy pastures, low hills, areas of dense forests and large stands of grass trees.

The history of early white settlement can be observed at the local Historical Complex. A wide collection of original buildings and historical collections is housed here for visitors to enjoy. Eidsvold takes its name from the Norwegian town where their constitution was signed on 17th May, 1817.

The Eidsvoid District

The Eidsvold district has long been the gathering place for three indigenous tribes - Wakka Wakka, Willi Willi and Gurang Gurang and members of all of these tribal groups still live and work in the area. Some of the murals in town also acknowledge the strong links that Eidsvold has to its indigenous residents.

There are several perfect picnic spots close to town at Kirar Weir, Tolderrodden Environmental Reserve and along the banks of Harness Boundary Creek. For those who would like to go a little further afield Wuruma Dam is also a good place for a spot of fishing. Mulgildie Plateau or Binjour Plateau are an easy drive and from here the visitor can see the beautiful rolling hills and fine agricultural land of the area. Horse sports are a favourite pursuit of many locals and Campdrafting, Rodeo and Polocrosse events are a must to see.
